My tips for The Open 2016

The tournament that everyone has been waiting for is here again……yes it’s The Open!

The Open has been held a Royal Troon 8 times now with the first being in 1923 where the course measured 6,415 yards. The players in 2016 will face a course that measures nearly 7,300 yards which shows you how equipment and human strength have changed over the last 90 years.

Since 1962 The Open at Troon has been dominated by Americans who have won the last 6 Opens on this demanding links course. Does that make an American favourite to win here again? Well going by recent performances from players such as Dustin Johnson and Jordan Spieth you would probably think so.

Here are my tips if you fancy having a bet.

Dustin Johnson E/W – 9/1

Jordan Spieth E/W – 12/1

Lee Westwood E/W – 40/1

Adam Scott E/W – 22/1

Sergio Garcia E/W – 25/1

Good luck to everyone and enjoy watching the golf over the next few days!

My Betting Tips For The PGA Championship At Valhalla

Well it’s been an interesting few days in the golfing world. We’ve seen Rory McIlroy win again and go back to world number one, we’ve seen Tiger Woods injure himself again (getting boring now) and we’ve seen Dustin Johnson supposedly get banned from golf for 6 months for testing positive to cocaine. Just a normal week on the PGA Tour really!

Right, back to the important stuff…betting.

I’ve had a pretty good few weeks on the betting front, so you would be a fool not to at least take a look at these bets, I normally go ‘each way’ on these as picking an outright winner isn’t easy.

So here they are…

Rickie Fowler  – 25/1

Brandt Snedeker – 66/1

Rory McIlroy – 6/1

Gary Woodland – 125/1

My Betting Tips For The Open 2014

The excitement is building as the third major of the season approaches, and in most peoples opinion, the biggest of them all (I might be a little biased.)

You great thing about The Open Championship is that you never quite know what to expect in terms of conditions as they can change so quickly within a matter of minutes, which makes it so hard to prepare for if you aren’t used to playing links golf.

Player’s like Graeme McDowell and Rory McIlroy have grown up playing links golf, but will only probably benefit if the wind gets up, then they could come into their own.

The conditions look pretty good for the next few days though and it could get hard and bouncy, and with the narrow fairways could prove to be a test, I think we will be seeing a lot of irons off the tee come the weekend.

So after all said and done, here are my betting tips:

Rickie Fowler 40/1

Tiger Woods 22/1

Sergio Garcia 25/1

Miguel Angel Jimenez 80/1

Good luck if you have a bet, should be a great spectacle once again.

My Betting Tips For The Masters 2014

The long wait is nearly over as the first major of the year is just around the corner and it feels like an eternity since we saw Jason Dufner lift the PGA Championship at Oakhill back in August last year.

The players have arrived at Augusta today and they will playing their practise rounds, either on their own or in groups. For some players this will be a new experience, especially the likes of European players such as Jamie Donaldson, Victor Dubuisson and Joost Luiten. The last debutant to win The Masters was Fuzzy Zoeller back in 1979, so it doesn’t happen that often. Just to make the cut would be a major achievement for these players, and I’m sure they will be seeking advice for fellow European players before teeing it up on Thursday.

So the big question is….Who is going to win?

It’s always hard to pick a winner at any tournament, but even harder in a major championship. Augusta is a well known course, and The Masters is the only major that is held at the same golf course each year so you can kind of get an idea looking back through previous results who does well, and who doesn’t. So if you are going to bet, this is a good one to bet on.

Here are my tips for this year:

Phil Mickleson 12/1

Dustin Johnson 25/1

Rickie Fowler 66/1

Jimmy Walker 55/1

Zach Johnson 33/1

My Betting Tips For The US PGA Championship

With the start of the US PGA Championship at Oak Hill imminent, I have selected four players who I think have not only got a great chance of winning the last of the four majors, but which I think are the best value.

So here are my four picks:

Carl Pettersson – 201/1

Bill Haas – 56/1

Keegan Bradley – 36/1

Fredrik Jacobson – 176/1

Really looking forward to the four days of golf ahead, I think it will be a really good event to watch, and think it will go down to the wire come Sunday night!

If you have had a bet then good luck, if you haven’t then enjoy watching!

My Betting Tips For The US Open

Just a couple of days now until the second major of the year gets underway at Merion Golf Club, the first time it’s been held there since 1981 when it was won by Australian David Graham.

So we don’t know a huge amount about the golf course or how players have performed there in the past, so when it comes to betting it’s very difficult to pick a winner here.

The last 5 years have seen different styles of winner:

2008 – Tiger Woods

2009 – Lucas Glover

2010 – Graeme McDowell

2011 – Rory McIlroy

2012 – Webb Simpson

2013 – ?

But there is someone who has a bit of form around this golf course, Rickie Fowler played exceptionally well when he played there in the Walker Cup in 2009. So my betting tips are as follows…

Rickie Fowler   67/1

Graeme McDowell   23/1

Rory McIlroy 23/1

Good luck if you have a bet, and enjoy watching the golf!

The US PGA Championship Is Underway – Take A Look At My Betting Tips

Well the 94th US PGA Championship is underway  and it was Italy’s Matteo Manassero who started proceedings as he struck the opening tee shot from the tenth tee at the Kiawah Island Golf Resort.

The 19 year old who is the youngest man in the 156-strong field this week took his three wood out the bag, managed to calm his nerves, and hit the left hand side of the fairway on a glorious morning in South Carolina.

With already a touch of humidity in the air there were still forecasts of electrical storms for the afternoon, but with no sign of inclement weather first thing. Let’s hope they manage to get in the full days play today.

A lot of the top players are yet to go off, Luke Donald is currently at one under par after two holes but with still a long way to go. Make sure you catch all the action on Sky Sports tonight!

As you know, I like to have a flutter on the major championships so here are my picks for this week. Just to remind you, I picked the winner of the US OpenWebb Simpson back in June!

Ian Poulter

Steve Stricker

Luke Donald

Bo Van Pelt

Stewart Cink
