Tiger and Sergio Row Needs To Move On

Last week at Wentworth saw a lot of controversy when Sergio Garcia said some comments about Tiger Woods that were taken the wrong way ahead of the BMW PGA Championship.

When Garcia was asked if he would invite Tiger around for dinner he replied “He can come around every night for some fried chicken if he wants”

Although Garcia hasn’t apologised to Woods face-to -face yet Tiger is keen to move on now even though he is still upset about what was said.

Garcia obviously isn’t a racist, but when you’re under the spotlight you have to be careful about what you say as the press are very quick to jump on any error you make. He just said the first thing that came into his head. If he had said’ Hot dog and chips’ then the press would have still found a way to make it into a story.

For the good of the game this needs to be resolved so we can all MOVE ON!!!

My Day Out At The BMW PGA Championship Practice Day

I went to watch the practice day of the BMW PGA Championship today at Wentworth, Virginia Water and what a lovely day to choose to go.

The sun was out for the first time in about 6 weeks and some of the top players in the world were in touching distance as it’s normally pretty quiet on practice days.

Watching these guys on the range and chipping green is a real treat and makes you appreciate how good these players really are.

If you are new to the game then going to watch tournament golf on a practice day is a great experience as you are generally allowed to walk a lot nearer  to the action than you would normally be allowed to, and you can learn a lot by listening to what the player’s and caddies are talking about and what they are thinking.

They’ve got course looking great this year and the new greens are looking much better this time around after a few complaints over the last couple of years. They’ve also dropped the 18th green by about 18 inches to make the long approach a little easier.

Tomorrow is the pro-am, so why don’t you get yourself down there and enjoy watching the golf without the big crowd!

Here are some of the pictures that I took today!

BMW PGA Championship – Strong Line-Up Announced

The world’s number one and number two golfers Luke Donald and Rory McIlroy will compete against a strong field at the forthcoming BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth.

The line-up at the Surrey course boasts a host of major champions, including Ireland’s Padraig Harrington, Spaniard Jose Maria Olazabal and South African Ernie Els.

Donald beat Lee Westwood in a play-off to win in 2011, a victory which saw him lead the rankings for the first time.

The tournament starts on Thursday 24th May 2012 and runs across the weekend.

Donald Sets The Wentworth Pace

Luke Donald set the pace on day one of the  PGA Championship at Wentworth, shooting a wonderful 64 to go into day two leading the pack on -7.

Donald, currently world number two, equalled his best ever round on the European Tour and held firm despite occasional treacherous conditions at the famous Surrey course.

He leads by two shots from 18-year-old Italian Matteo Manassero and Sweden’s Johan Edfors.

Another Swede, Oscar Floren, will resume today on -4 with four holes of his first round still to play, as a 36-minute delay for thunder and lightning during the afternoon left several players with unfinished rounds.

England’s Ian Poulter and Ross McGowan, Welshman Bradley Dredge and Spaniard Jose Manuel Lara were three under.

Europe’s 2010 Ryder Cup captain Colin Montgomerie also lit up the morning with some vintage golf to lead alongside Donald for a spell before slipping back to a two-under 69.
