Langer Loses Out in Play-Off After Epic Battle

After the drama of last night in The Senior Open at Royal Birkdale, Mark Wiebe and Bernhard Langer came back this morning to complete the play-off which had to be cut short last night due to bad light.

They played the 18th twice last night and a further three times today, and it was Mark Wiebe who came out on top after the epic battle.

Langer had the chance to win outright last night when he only needed a bogey or better coming down the last, but after hitting the fairway, he then found the greenside bunker, to which it took him two shots to get out and then he missed a seven foot putt to leave him tied with Wiebe.

It’s a tough one to take for Langer, he’s normally pretty steady under pressure and will be livid at the way he played the last hole in regulation play last night.

Fatigued Woods Takes Extended Break

Former world No.1 Tiger Woods  has said that he is looking forward to a break from golf and blamed fatigue as the reason for not competing in this week’s $7 million WGC-HSBC tournament at Mission Hills in China.

After a recent busy schedule which has included an exhibition match against Rory McIlroy, Woods decided he needed a break. By his own standards he hasn’t had the best year in golfing terms. He has won tournaments and has always been in contention but the putter has gone a bit cold on him. At times he has looked lost and strained and at times he looks like he’s thriving on the golf course. I for one think a break will do him good.

He will be playing in his own tournament before putting the clubs away until next year. I honestly believe Tiger will be back to No.1 in the world next year. Don’t hold me to that though!
