The PGA Tour Season Comes To An End This Weekend In Georgia

This week is basically the top 29 golfers in the FedEx Cup battling it out to win a lottery of $10m. All 29 players (Dustin Johnson ‘decided to take a break from golf’) can have the chance to win the bonus pool of money but only a few have it in their own hands, which include Rory McIlroy and Bubba Watson.

East Lake  in Atlanta plays host again to this showdown which is always entertaining. The course is 110 years old this year and hosted the Ryder Cup back in 1963 which ended in an American victory where they smashed us 23-9.

Let’s hope with the Ryder Cup at Gleneagles so close, that a European player can take the Tour Championship and carry that momentum onto Scotland and give the whole team a boost with only two weeks to go.

Henrik Stenson was victorious last year and took the jackpot home with him with a score of 13 under par.

The winning score is normally between 8 under and 13 under par, so if you can get into double figures in the red you are going to be there or thereabouts come Sunday evening!

Stenson – A Major Bet For Next Season

Well it hasn’t been a bad year for Henrik Stenson, not only did he win the FedEx Cup, yesterday he went one better and won The Race To Dubai, the first time it has been achieved by someone in the same season.

Stenson had a dramatic loss in form a few years back due to losing a lot of money which he had invested and then he had a mysterious illness which took him a year to recover from.

His form over the last few months has been quite remarkable and he hasn’t finished outside of the top 10 in any tournament he has played.

The big Swede started the final round with a two-shot lead over Frenchman Victor Dubuisson and was four shots clear of good friend Ian Poulter.

Stenson though was a man on a mission and never looked like getting chased down, he played like he had the ball on a bit of string and was hitting every fairway and hitting it close on a regular basis, it was really was amazing to watch.

This year should see him in great stead for next year’s majors where he has to challenge in all four you would feel, I would get your bets on now for him to at least finish in the top 5 for three out of the four majors!

Who’s Going To Win The Race?

With the DP World Tour Championship looming Justin Rose hopes he is strong enough to become European number 1 for the second time in his career.

He is 214,000 euros behind leader Henrik Stenson but has to finish in the top 5 to have any chance of overtaking the Swede who has been on top form this year.

Graeme McDowell also has a chance of winning the Race To Dubai if he can muster up a victory regardless of where Stenson finishes. You really get the feeling McDowell will be in the mix come Sunday afternoon, he’s just that type of player.

But is Rose is determined to finish the season off on another high to go with his historic major win at Merion back in June.

Rose last won the Order of Merit back in 2007 and feels like it’s his time to shine again.

There’s a lot of money at stake here for a lot of players, which can sometimes bring out the best in them, let’s hope for a terrific week of golf and an exciting finish!
