Rory Set To Sign £250m Nike Deal

The speculation about Rory McIlroy making a switch to join Nike has become ever more apparent after it was announced that he would not be renewing his sponsorship deal with  the Jumeirah Group. It is believed the the Northern Irishman has earned around £4.4 million in a deal that he signed with the Dubai company 5 years ago.

McIlroy also ended deals with Oakley and Titleist at the end of 2012 leaving him open to sign the speculated £250 million deal over 5 years with Nike.

The official announcement is expected to made in Abu Dhabi on the 14th of January.

Do you think it’s a good move for Rory? Or should he be concentrating on trying to become the best player that’s ever lived rather than trying to earn as much as he possibly can?

Lawrie In Confident Mood Heading Into The Open

Paul Lawrie thinks that the start of the Scottish Open marks the start of the biggest two weeks of the year.

He goes into his national Open having been in some great form recently, before travelling to Royal Lytham and St. Annes to compete in The Open Championship  which he won in 1999 in a play-off.

The Scotsman has had ten top-25 finishes in 14 events, including victory at the Commercialbank Qatar Masters which has propelled him to eighth in The Race to Dubai and third in The Ryder Cup standings, but the 43 year old is determined to build on that form and make it count in these bigger tournaments.

“I’m looking forward to it,” he said. “Obviously it’s always the biggest two weeks of the year for a Scottish player if you’re in The Open”

Well Lawrie has proved he can cut it with the big boys and has already got a major under his belt, so he’s got nothing to prove. Could major number two be around the corner? What do you think?

McIlroy and Woods will be world No.1 & 2

If anyone watched The Honda Classic last night then they would have noticed how far Rory McIlroy has come as a player over the last 12 months, and even more impressively after the total collapse on the final day of the masters.

He has gone from strength to strength and maybe should have won more tournaments than he has done but let’s not forget he is only 22!

I think we saw last night what the next couple of years hold for us in the battle for world no.1 and for majors, because Tiger is back on the prowl and he won’t lay down and let the young cub being Rory McIlroy take over easily. Believe me Tiger is back and is hungrier than ever and the thought of him and Rory pairing up on the final of the Masters is a mouth watering prospect for all of us!

McIlroy is an old head on young shoulders and Tiger is a slightly confused head on very experienced shoulders, I for one am really looking forward to the season ahead, could be one of the best for a long time. Let’s not forget about Mickelson too!

Please feel free to leave any comments, I would like to discuss things more about this great game that we all love!
