Jason Dufner holed a superb 25-foot birdie putt on the 18th green to claim a dramatic one-stroke victory at the Byron Nelson Championship yesterday.
It rounded off a memorable few weeks for Dufner who won his first PGA Tour title in New Orleans
at the end of April before getting married to wife Amanda.
The American is only the second man to win multiple titles on the American circuit this season, and is set to make his Ryder Cup debut in September when America host the Ryder Cup.
Dufner who led by a shot overnight started poorly in his final round and surrendered his lead after dropping shots at the second and third.
He bounced back with birdies on the fourth, fifth and seventh to take his score to nine-under through seven holes, but that was still only sharing the lead with playing partner JJ Henry who made an ace at the fifth.
As the tournament was reaching a close a host of players were fighting it out for position at the top of the leaderboard with Dickie Pride making an unlikely par on the 18th be tied with Dufner.
Dufner hit his best drive of the day on the last leaving him 109 yards to the hole. He didn’t hit the best approach and left himself a downhill right to left putt which he brilliantly holed and left veteran Dickie Pride alone in second.

One of my favourite golf courses Kingsbarns Golf Links was voted the Golf Course of the Year at last night’s Golf Tourism Scotland (GTS) Gold Standard Awards held at the Fairmont. The Awards are recognised as the industry Oscars and celebrate the greatest achievements throughout the industry from courses to hotels and resorts, tour operators, golf secretariats, caddie masters and transport companies. It is a great showcase for the who’s who in golf.
It was named Course of the Year for the 4 time ahead of some of the leading courses in Scotland including Balcomie Links (Crail), the Carnoustie Championship Course, Castle Stuart Golf Links, Gullane No 2, Machrihanish Dunes, the New Course, St Andrews, North Berwick West Links, Pitlochry, the Old Course St Andrews, the Torrance Course (Fairmont St Andrews), the Ailsa Course at Turnberry and Western Gailes.

Sergio Garcia ended his three-year wait for a tournament victory by winning the Castello Masters by 11 shots in Spain.
The 31-year-old had taken an eight-shot lead into the final day and dominated again with a superb round of 63 on the Club de Campo del Mediterraneo course where he was boys champion aged 12.
Garcia, who was the tournament promoter, finished with his ninth birdie of the day for a 27-under total.
It gave the Spaniard his ninth European Tour career victory.
His compatriot Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano finished second after a 64 – although his round was spoiled slightly by two bogeys at the 17th and 18th while Scotland’s Richie Ramsay and Sweden’s Alex Noren were a shot further back on 15 under.
Garcia’s victory, his second in four years in the event, beat the previous biggest winning margin of the European Tour season by three shots.
